What an intensive outpatient program is

An intensive outpatient program is real, structured treatment you attend five mornings a week while living at home. It sits between residential care and a weekly appointment — the structure of rehab, without leaving your job, your kids, or your own bed.

REACH treats substance use and mental health together, in the same program, with the same team. Our clinicians work on the trauma underneath the using, not only the using itself, and 12-step facilitation is built into the treatment plan.

Who it is for

  • Adults 18 and over whose drinking or drug use has stopped responding to weekly counseling.
  • People stepping down from residential treatment who need structure to hold on to.
  • People facing drug court who need documented, consistent treatment.
  • Anyone carrying a substance use disorder and a mental health diagnosis at the same time.
  • Teenagers 13 to 17, by special consideration, at our West Union office.

You do not have to stop your life to get treatment.

Why people choose REACH for IOP

Six reasons this program works for people who cannot simply stop everything and check in somewhere.

You keep your life

Groups run mornings, five days a week. People hold down jobs, stay in their homes and keep parenting all the way through this program.

Housing if you need it

Supportive housing runs alongside IOP in five communities. You do not have to be in housing to be in the program.

One team, not six phone numbers

Counseling, case management, urinalysis, workforce development, transportation and drug court representation, all in one organization.

Both things at once

Substance use and mental health treated together, with trauma-focused care and 12-step facilitation built into the plan.

We sort out the money

A wide range of insurance, Medicaid accepted, help applying for coverage if you have none, and a sliding scale if you are paying yourself.

Faith-friendly, not faith-required

All spiritual walks are welcome here, and so is none at all. Your call, every time.

What a week looks like

Groups are the core of it — five mornings a week, three to four hours a day. Kingston runs 9:00 to noon.

  • Daily group therapy
  • Individual counseling with licensed addiction professionals
  • Mental health therapy and trauma-focused care
  • Life skills and relapse prevention groups
  • Anger management and parenting classes
  • Random drug screening
  • Case management and care coordination
  • Transportation assistance
  • Family involvement wherever possible
  • Drug court representation
  • Workforce development and transitional support
  • A plan for afterwards, made before the program ends

What it costs

We take a wide range of health insurance and we accept Medicaid. If you have no coverage, we will help you apply for it. If you are paying yourself, there is a sliding scale.

You will know where you stand before you commit — your coverage is checked at the assessment, not after you have started.

Before you call

Do I need a referral?
No. Call us, send the intake form, or walk in. Walk-ins are welcome.
How many days a week is it?
Five, Monday through Friday, three to four hours a day. Groups run in the morning — 9:00 to noon at Kingston.
Can I keep working?
Many people do, and the morning schedule exists for that reason. Tell us your hours when we talk and we will work with them where we can.
Will I be drug tested?
Yes. Random urinalysis is part of the program. It is there to support what you are building, not to catch you out.
What if I cannot get there?
Transportation assistance is available. Ask about it when you call — it is a common reason people think they cannot do this, and it is usually solvable.
Do you take my insurance?
We take a wide range of insurance and we accept Medicaid. If you have none, we help people apply. If you are self-paying, there is a sliding scale.
Is there IOP for teenagers?
Ages 13 to 17 by special consideration, at our West Union office, the Oliver Center. It is the only location running youth IOP.
I am in drug court. Can you work with that?
Yes. We provide drug court representation and are used to meeting reporting requirements.

Ready when you are.
